A China Olympics may have occurred early in Chinese history. Sports in China may actually have started several millennia before. As a cradle of history and diverse culture, Chinese sport has unique features of its own. The Chinese exercised life preserving arts using a combination of coordinated body movements and mental strength distinct from other sports showcased around the world. Hence, ancient sports play a big part for shaping the face of China we see at present. Now, China Olympics has become a reality.
It can be noted that last July of 2001, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had selected China, specifically the city of Beijing, to host the Olympic Games for the summer of 2008. Including itself, there were five countries fighting for the position as host of the remarkable event. The other nations were Toronto (Canada), Paris (France), Istanbul (Turkey), and Osaka (Japan). It can be remembered that China actually lost its bid to stage the Olympics last 2000 from fellow competitor Sydney (Australia) but this time, after a decisive debate and mind-breaking discussions, it was finally China that was pronounced the victor. Beijing’s dream of hosting a China Olympics was slowly being realized.
With this glorious news, there was however a little apprehension about it because many sports analysts and human rights activists who opposed the IOC decision for grounds of China having a very poor human rights record. To them, a nation with that much controversy and inhumane historical background should not be given the opportunity to host such a prestigious sports event. Nevertheless, the Olympic organization clearly stated that their decision relied heavily on the nation’s preparedness and technical ability to host a grandiose event such as this one. Many past hosts of this same event also had similar or even worse issues regarding human rights but China must not be denied the opportunity to stage a China Olympics. It is actually just a major sporting event that should be enjoyed by everyone. Still, many continue to question up to this day whether China is the best choice as host amidst all political and social considerations.
On the brighter side, China continues to celebrate in jubilation that their mother country was actually chosen. The China Olympics will then be a benchmark for its change into becoming a nation highly respected and fairly treated to be at par with all the previous countries who had hosted the event. It will be an avenue to give the world a whole new image of China not reluctant to positive change. As the Olympic date is fast-approaching, spectators will then witness whether indeed, the country did managed to be as democratic and modern as possible, not only pertaining about infrastructure development, but also with advocating human rights. Truly, all visitors and tourists coming to China this year will be amazed and marvel at the many offers the country is offering. It is not only the athletes that will be having the time of their lives but also the millions of people celebrating the event live in the many sporting venues. Also to the billions left watching at home, China will offer a one of a kind sporting spectacle like none ever seen before.

A few weeks ago I was emotionally moved by Brett Favre’s crying speech, he really moved me by breaking down and retiring in a very emotional way. Today I feel like im the one crying everytime I see him coming then going. What the hell is he doing? Did he falsly fool us all into his retirement or was he looking for some pity? I honestly want to see him go like a champion and just retire, it would make all of us really happy.

The US Basketball olympic team wrapped up their last game against Australia and are headed to Beijing. Although the final game was a nail biter the Australians gave the US a run for their money. The final score Tuesday night was 87-76. The US led the by four points half way through the third quarter, but thanks to the superstars like Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant and Michael Redd these players are hard to control. This team is by far one of the best olympic basketball teams ever and a gold medal is inevitible.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, (born April 16, 1e947 Fredrick Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr.) An American NBA All-Star basketball player considered one of the best players of all time. His career spanned over 20 years from 1969-1989. His incredible 7 ft 2 in height made him a force to deal with. His record breaking 38,387 points made him the highest total scorer of any player in the league. Kareem was known for his famous skyhook shot and was awarded six Most Valuable Player Awards.
Kareem was picked for the 1969 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. Karem remained a dominant force for the Bucks scoring 38 points per game and helping the Bucks to division leaders for four straight years. By 1973, Kareem had won three MVP Awards and one of the top NBA players in scoring.
In 1975 Abdul-Jabbar was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he had a dominant season averaging 27 points per game and leading the league in blocked shots and rebounds. He still holds the NBA single season record for 1,111 defensive rebounds. Kareem continued to play strong during his next two seasons and named to the All-NBA Second Team twice and the All-Defensive Team once. The Lakers went on to become the most dominant team in the 1980’s with the winning combination of Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson to win five NBA Championships.
Kareem announced his retirement in 1989 after 20 years of professional seasons. The Lakers made the NBA Finals in each of Abdul-Jabbar’s final three seasons, defeating Boston in 1987 and Detroit in 1988. His athletic honors include; Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Of Fame in 1995, Rookie of the Year in 1970, six time NBA champion (1971, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988), MVP (1971, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1980), Final MVP (1971, 1985), One of the fifty greatest players in NBA history, and first player in NBA history to play a total of 20 seasons.

Just recenlty I came across a set of Yum Yum Tobacco baseball cards, I was driving by a real old home that had a yard sale. This lady must have been 100 years old, so I tought maybe she has something good for sale. Well she did a set of 1888 Yum Yum tobacco cards. I didnt want to act to excited so I asked her what wasshe asking for those old cards. She said son I want $20 dollars, those cards were my husbands and they bring back memories of him. So I said I want them and I gave her $40 just for being a kind sweet old lady. I have yet to get them certified but I will be doing it soon. Hopefully I hit something good here. It pays to shop around.

Hockey is a very physical sport. Throughout a game, a player can get dozens of body checks left and right from the opposing team. If you are curious about trying out this sport, then it is very important that you have the right gear that will protect you from injuries. Getting the best hockey equipment can optimize your playing skills as well. Here are some tips on what you should look for in hockey equipment.
Skates
Hockey skates are essential to have when playing hockey. They are different from your typical ice skates. Unlike those you use in ice skating, the boots in hockey skates are made of molded plastic. When choosing the best hockey boots, one must look for the ones that use synthetic leather or ballistic nylons for the upper boot. Though molded plastic is enough to ensure protection for the feet, they also lessen one’s mobility on the ice.
Stick
The hockey stick is as important as the skates. How could you play hockey without something to hit the puck with? There are three types of hockey sticks to use– the traditional wooden sticks, the two-piece shafts and blades, and modern one-piece stick.
Among these kinds of hockey sticks, the modern one-piece stick is the best that money can buy. Unlike the traditional wooden stick, the one-piece stick is more durable for they are made from Kevlar (the same material used in bulletproof vests) and carbon fiber (material used in creating the bodies of modern F1 racing cars). Not only that, the one-piece sticks is the lightest among the three and is cheaper than the two-piece blades and shafts. An average two-piece stick could cost you around $100 to $170 while the average one-piece costs $130.
